Do you share ownership? If so, what is yours to work with and do you need to collaborate with a co-owner? (I thought a duplex meant two story but this can’t be the case here so I’m assuming you mean two units.)

You have the catchy title! But you probably want to tell people which side is yours, and what you are trying to accomplish. Is that a driveway necessary for parking?

In general, It is cute already, imho, and could use landscaping mostly. But if you want a porch or a re-do of the driveway and front walkway there on the left, or some other construction work, you need to let people know your budget and what you feel the major things are functionally.

In that case, if I owned a cute little duplex like that with an endless budget, I'd probably hire a fancy architect, design a larger home with at least 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (assuming I plan to live with at least one other person), and I'd fancy it up with a dramatic entrance, matching the new style, and a proper garage somehow, with some sort of permeable driveway, and then I'd hire a landscape architect to do a whole plan including adding trees with height, some shrubs to define areas and maybe line a new walkway to the single frontdoor.

But overall, with an endless budget, I'd be consulting well-regarded professionals. Because a big project like what you COULD do on that spacious-seeming property wouldn't be advisable without professional help.

KInd of hard to tell from the pic, what are the vertical lines on the walls? Do you need new siding or what is going on there?

Finishing the trim on top of the left hand windows would help those- perhaps consider repainting all that black trim something else so the thin trim outlines don't look so stark against the white walls and windows.

Either remove and replace or widen/even out the walkway from the driveway to the door- that slender angled walk looks odd and not very welcoming. Perhaps even a whole patio pad outside the door. Maybe add on a porch or pergola roof to give the area some shelter and visually even it out a bit with what's going on with the right side of the building.

Get some landscaping in there- the plain grass up to the walls is stark and not much curb appeal.

I would come up with a color scheme for the house. Each unit’s address needs to be identified so packages and guests go to the correct entrance. Possibly paint the front door of each unit a different color. On the right, I would put a little art and maybe a bench in the recessed entry and a welcome mat or rug. Some landscaping is needed. What is your preferred style?

This is what I want:

A new metal roof in a light color to reflect the heat not absorb it.

Paint the house a nice green to go with the roof color. You can pick the window trim color.

Small entry patios by both doors say 8x8 or 10 x10 whatever works in the space.

Sturdy pergolas over the entry patios with 6x6 posts. Grow some vines up them like Bignonia capreolata.

Plant a Tabebuia chrysantha tree to the right centered on the windowless wall section fifteen feet out from the house.

Make an 8 foot deep planting bed in the center of the house between the two doors that curves out to 15 feet to put the Tabebuia at the front edge of the bed. There is now visual separation between the two units.

So what kind style you want for these beds, old time Florida that will survive a freeze or minimal risk tropical?

Go for what you want. it's your house. White trim would go with green paint. You need to figure out what style you want for landscaping, maybe work with a landscaper that can help you with the right plants for your plans.
