Adding a master bath dilemma

I'm in the process of remodeling and want to add a master bathroom to the west side of the house (In North CA, room addition is very common). The previous master bath is very small, so we plan to convert the previous bath to a walk in closet.

Here's my architect's drawing for the floor plan, and a photoshop result I did myself

from borrowing pictures online.

I particularly concern about the bathroom door next to the bed, is it a big no no to have a door there? Or it is not a big deal to the general public? We are 70% ok with it but we have to consider resale value... After the addition, all four walls of the master bedroom would have some kind of opening on it (door/closet door/window etc), makes it hard to arrange furniture.

Any suggestion are greatly appreciated!

I think the bathroom door is ok as long as there’s enough wall space for two nightstands and a queen at least.

What about making the addition a little bit wider and accessing the bathroom from the new WIC? You might be sad down the line to have your bed size restricted on that wall due to the door.

Or do you still need the reach in closet if you have the new walk-in one? You could swap that closet to open to the other bedroom and make that wall uninterrupted.

Too bad you'll be losing cross ventilation in a bedroom. Ideally you want to have windows on 2 walls.

With a walk-in closet, can you lose the reach-in closet, add that space to the adjoining bedroom, and place your bed there? If it becomes a closet in the other bedroom, you haven’t lost closet space, just reassigned it.

Cpartist brings up a good point. Can you add the bathroom on the side of the closet (instead of the bedroom) instead?

Thank you for all your replies! The master bedroom is only 12.5 x 11, on the smaller side. We planned to convert the reach in closet to a built in desk.

We may need to make the addition wider and access bathroom from the WIC, like Imckuin suggested.

Cross ventilation would be lost, unfortunately :( Lots of houses in the area doesn't have it though, and it's an entry level home in the area, so I hope it won't affect the resale value.
