My landscape architect sister in law says that Go Botany thought it was a Lonicera/honeysuckle. Or I thought it might be a Polygonum/Fallopia of some kind, although they almost always have alternate leaves and this one is opposite.

It doesn't seem to look exactly like any of these, though.

My friend lives near a forested area and doesn't want to plant it if it's something invasive that might spread by seed into the wild areas near her. So that's why she wants to identify it before she plants it. Someone else bought it for her.

It's very invasive. I roots at the nodes, and spreads fast that way, not by seeds. The leaves are poisonous to wildlife.

“If so ....”. There’s no “ if” about it. It’s Vinca major, 100%. Go Botany is wrong.

Thanks, everyone! I'll let her know that it's not an appropriate vine to plant. She's very protective of the wild areas near where she lives.
