Yes, we are always concerned about practicality when it comes to vanity lighting. It's important to have pendant lighting that shines on your FACE, not up/down. I look for something that provides a good glow at about 5'6" to 5'10" above the floor. I prefer pendants to sconces, because we install pendants 10-12" out from the back wall, to light the face better than sconces, which are mounted on the wall and further from your face.
