Hallelujah!!!!!

After a month, I finally have my washer & dryer hooked back up!
We still need to put them up on the pedestals and put cabinetry & new sink in, but I can finally get caught up on my laundry. Ugh, guys just don’t get it.

That’s all. Just yay!

Have to say, I've never gone a month without a washer and dryer. I don't know that I could.

Some guys do get it. Wedding looming (many years ago), we had just found an apartment, and DH surprised me with a reconditioned repossessed pair of Maytags. He had done deliveries for the appliance store while in school so knew the owner.

The apartment had washer dryer hookups. The machines lived there before we did ;0)

I was getting by - barely - doing 2-3 loads at my daughter’s house when we watch the kids on Tuesdays. I got almost caught up last weekend doing some bedding at our neighbor’s while they were at the cabin, but hubs is on his way up to the border to fish tomorrow through Tuesday and he thought I could wait until he got back. There was “an education”. I busted butt to get the room painted and ready to reinstall them. I’m relieved that the washer didn’t get too funky sitting out on the deck. We had a few pretty warm days. I ran a packet of washer cleaner and it’s all good. On my third load already. Right after he got it brought back inside I found the cat had nibbled on some grass and puked it on the bed. 😖 GAH! As if I don’t already have enough to do, but so glad I could clean it up right away! So happy!

I should add that we are at the tail end of a big reno (STRESS!) and we just had the last floor demo’d & replaced. The back entry/half bath/laundry room just got tile. For some inexplicable reason our tile guy took 3 weeks to tie it up - after waiting on him for months, grr - so I was only just now able to clean it up and get it painted. The bathroom still needs at least one more coat of paint. We have a handful of other tasks like range hood install and some millwork, but we’re so close.

Still, this hasn’t been the worst... we had ceiling lighting in kitchen changed to recessed and island pendants, so we had the ceilings scraped and retextured. Right after they were scraped we got C19 and we’re both sick in bed! The whole job came to a screeching halt for 3 weeks in October. The entire first floor draped in dusty plastic sheeting, no overhead lights, half-functional kitchen and dust EVERYWHERE with 4 cats to take care of and try to clean so that they weren’t tracking it all over or getting it it all over their fur and breathing it, etc. The cherry on top was that during this time it got cold enough we needed to turn on the furnace. So, now I have a layer of superfine chalk all over every thing and on every surface in every room. It will take me all year to clean it up, unpack and get back to normal!
