It's a bit darker and more velvety than the picture suggests. Camera acting up. Also very fragrant.

Very pretty Alana, but I do not know the ID. My latest from RVRs I ordered Alliance-Franco-Russe Tea which turned out to be Alnwick Castle and Kaiserin Freidrich Tea Noisette which turned out to be Kathleen Harrop.

What I would do is, take a look at their list of roses, and see what is next to 'Licorice . . . ' alphabetically.

The curious thing with my last mixup is that I got Alnwick Castle instead of Alliance which fit Jeri's method, as did Kathleen for Kaiserin, but Alnwick Castle is not on RVR's list at all. That makes me think this happened at "the growers". I have been there when they received cuttings newly from "the grower" I think in California and they were all resting on the lawn. My mislabels had the printed name tag of the ordered rose.

I'm no help because I have not informed them of most of my mislabels. I just tried to love the roses I got.

I very much doubt RVR even has 'Licorice Tea' in their collection. After my plant of it was destroyed in the Big Freeze 6 years ago, I purchased it from RVR 2.5 years ago. They sent me some cream colored Rambler. I told them I got the wrong plant and they promised they'd replace it. I'm still waiting. (Well, actually I'm not. I don't expect to receive anything from them)

Liebeszauber is a great rose. I think @Kristine LeGault 8a pnw grows it.

I've never ordered it from them, but A Reverence for Roses carries it. They are currently out of it. Alana, it might be a possibility for you if you still want to try for it. I've only ordered from them twice, nothing terribly rare, but everything has been very healthy, accurate and prompt.

Thanks Sheila! You have dealt with alot of mistakes, I however, just can't afford to be so kind. Jeri I think you nailed it right on the head. Not really a fan of HT's , ownroot, unless it is a strong grower, hopefully it is. We shall see. Thanks very much Kes, I have ordered from them, once, and was happy, so that will most likely be the route I take. A pity, I too have supported them, RVR , for many years, and was hoping they had it together. Sheila, I meant to tell you, the two roses I was waiting to bloom for you, well their blooms got ate by rabbits or deer, and I didn't get to see a one :( However, I have been as diligent as I can putting out natural repellents. I may do the liquid fence route in Spring next year, so I can definitely see bloom on those two. They were loaded down too. I looked and looked to see if they missed one, but the cleaned me out. I have found they like certain roses more than other. The rabbits completely ate and thus killed a young Charlotte I planted up front. Away from the house. If you like, I can still pot their suckers up for you, and have them ready by fall or Spring. Just let me know. Should I plant clover for the rabbits, or no? I always try to live with the wildlife , and hate to kill it, but in this case, I might make an exception. They may eat my clover, then my roses. I have planted lot of onion, garlic, and rosemary, or it may have been lavender. It was only teo plants of lavender or rosemary, but will be adding more. Anything else I can do?

Paul Barden, that is very sad, I had one delivered in the spring, it's growing kinda interesting, low to the ground and very small leaves, not sure of that's normal? Guess I get to see what color they sent me.

Paul, sorry, I forgot to respond to your comment. That's very sad, they way they even do you, after all you have done for them. I hope you get your rose back in your collection someday. I also brought Oshun, we will see if it's correct. The only one I know to be right is William Grant, and Oakington Ruby.

@Biff Jessop Show us a photo and I'll tell you if its right or not. That sounds like the Rambler I received.

Alana, thank you so much for thinking of me. I really want Umbra and would so love for you to see one next Spring when yours bloom. I feel for us both that bunnies or deer got this Spring flush of yours. I have caged some treasures with chicken wire. Maybe you could cage a few blooms on each of the plants you are watching next Spring if the whole mother plants are too large.

I think your approach of trying to straighten RVRs out is the right path. I just know Janet is a senior and doing the best she can. I really think their growers are sending them mixed up stock too. It will take a while for Scott to correct things. They really have some treasures over there.

You also had a great tip with Corn Hill. They had some treasures.

Sorry about these troubles. My friend put chicken wire around his young roses. Until they grew tall enough. He has left the chicken wire around the bay so they don't cut it off there. He didn't mind if they had some just not all. Also, They ate a couple of down to the ground and killed them so This is helped a lot. I do not know why my voice recognition randomly capitalizes things in the middle of my sentences. Sorry if I do not edit that.

@User, well that's just sad, so now I guess I don't know what to think, I planted this spring also oshun, mels heritage, dominic sunset, golden Buddha, sirens keep, and have jeri Jennings on order ( just got an email saying it has shipped) so do u think these are all messed up?? Guess I need your

@Biff Jessop I'm not sure how to gauge the situation. Apparently once upon a time, RVR used to have correctly labeled inventory of 'Licorice Tea', but it seems nobody has actually received the correct variety in recent times, myself included.

I'm not sure about the others. I know several people have bought the ones you've mentioned and apparently received the correct plant.

Biff, gorgeous Oshun! Oshun turns many colors depending on season, weather, age of bloom etc. It will hit those tangerine-orange notes for sure! But it will also sport a range of other colors—apricot, peach, creamsicle, etc. The fragrance…yes!
