No there shouldn't be water leaking, but I found that something is always getting old or breaking and the water is a sign that you need to have someone take a look! We have all the same equipment for a measly hot tub! Should have ripped it all out when we remodeled and did hardscape work, instead we've had to maintain, replace and update all the parts, for something we never use!

Since you already have Jandy equipment, I would stick with the same.

The Jandy VS FloPro in the smallest THP of .85 would be plenty for that volume of water.

Some light plumbing changes would be necessary to match it up.

Your current PlusHP is available in a VS but the smallest THP is 2.7 which is overkill for your application.

Pricing varies around the country. Keep in mind right now there is a long wait for pool equipment to be in stock at suppliers. We waited over 3 weeks for pool heaters when we normally can walk in and purchase from our supply houses.

The water leak may be a motor shaft seal gone bad. Usually water collects under the motor when they fail.

Or, a small leak from the discharge pipe on the pump.
