How big is the spot, how mature are the hosta around it and what kind of light does it get?

the hosta forum is one of the most active forums around...

there are about 10 thousand of them that are popular ... and the mavens in that forum would be all over this ..

add your big city location.. and a pic of the spot .. when you post over there ... include soil type.. drainage .. and hours of sun per day at what time during said day ...

and finally.. would you be willing to mail order???

For me 'Final Summation' doesn't get enough press.

If it's more shady then I find 'Komodo Dragon' to be a real stunner.

I have an Empress Wu that has yet to "empress" me. Okay, bad puns aside, I find it rather blah but perhaps because it hasn't attained its full size yet and other than the size, it's just a plain green hosta, imo.

I am eyeing a Wu-La-La - I admit to having a thing for variegated hostas and find them so much more interesting than a solid color one, so I am biased, but I think I will try this one. At least a little something more to look at while it gets big.

Sorry, guess that's not a recommendation from personal experience but just throwing out an idea. I do have a Komodo Dragon which is also still attaining full size and imo it's more attractive than Empress Wu. Good luck and let us know what you go with.

I don't know if Krossa Regal is a giant but they definitely catch my eye..

I'm less then impressed with Wu also, but maybe it's just the spot. Planted many years ago and is just not impressive. I like Big Daddy, Blue Mammoth, Coast to Coast

Sagae would be my choice. Not sure it is as huge as you would want and it takes awhile to get larger but it's very attractive.
