F/S in SQ Bleach Dispenser

I had to go to the East Coast this week, leaving my partner to take care of things while I was gone. That included him helpfully doing 2 loads of laundry. I spoke to him on Wednesday and he excitedly told me I "used the Speed Queen". I got in last night at 10:30 pm. I went into the LR and looked at the washer and noticed a little bit of Tide in the FS dispenser (on the agitator). So I asked him if he put the detergent in there and he replied "no-I poured it around". So my next question was "did you use Fabric softener?" and his reply was "yes, I poured it in there" pointing to the bleach dispenser. I did my best not to overreact. I immediately ran the washer and put bleach in the dispenser. Googling this leads me to the fact that many people do that! Luckily I had switched to Snuggle from Downey which is not as thick a formulation.

I am not going to dismantle the machine, but is there anything else anyone recommends I do? Should I run the washer again, maybe jut put in a cup of water in the dispenser? I need to do a load of laundry in the next day, and don't want to use the SQ until I have done all I should do to fix this.

This is a toploader, yes? SQ toploader bleach dispensers are not timed release. It's a simple funnel that immediately flows into the outer tub so bleach mixes and dilutes with water as the machine fills for the wash. Liquid fabric softener, of course, should not go into the wash period. Did he put the softener into the dispenser at start of the rinse fill?

Shouldn't be any damage caused, just pour some hot water through the dispenser to flush any residue.

Sorry to hear this Jim. My sympathies.

When I leave town, my spouse has strick orders to not do ANY laundry in my absence.

One time I went away for 3 days. When I came back I had a very proud of himself spouse who said he did laundry while I was gone. Yes. He did. All the laundry had been turned forest green. Three loads worth. Somehow all forest green. Never found out how he accomplished that.

I think your SQ will be alright.

Thanks dadoes and SEA SEA-I knew you two would give me some feedback. dadoes I figured the bleach dispenser was not a timed release because when I use it I can smell the bleach in the water pretty much as the machine is filling, so I never use the Heavy soil setting on the timer as that is too long for bleach to be in contact with anything but cleaning rags. And oh yes, he put in the FS at the start of the cycle. Luckily it was only his clothes, but also our towels and a set of sheets. Hopefully no long lasting damage. I;ll go pour some hot water into the dispenser and run it again just to make certain. SEA SEA, he is banished.
