White cabinets w/ white/light coloured granite

I am in the process of picking out my kitchen for our new home. I initially went with white cabinets with a tropical brown granite but now i am having doubts. I feel that we should go with the light granite as our kitchen is not big but it is open to our living room. I would love to hear some comments from those of you who have white cabinets with light granite?

White cabinets with light colored granite top does provide a more airy feel since all the surfaces read as one.

Cream cabinets would look better with brown granite while white would look better with black or some other colors.

thanks everyone for your advise we are going with the colonial white granite with the white cabinets with the brushed nickle knobs and stainless steel appliances.

You won't be sorry. We had the same choice to make and went with alabaster (off white) and an engineered stone top in Creme Brûlée and it looks great in the open plan area.
