Midge - looks like it needs a transplant - google images of the jade, get the name of your specific type then read up on the proper care - that would be what I would do.

It definitely looks like it is time to be moved to a bigger pot. My mother has had the same Jade plant for over 30 years, and they DO thicken up. But you need to give it room to grow, and fertilizer, etc.

This looks a bit like mine (I only just found out what it is!). I'm no expert. But mine has thrived with lots of neglect and occasional care. I inherited it from a desk at work. Our office closed so it's been with me since 2012. I think mine is huge and it was small when I first started sharing office space with it. :-) I've started taking the babies off and planting to give away in a local Facebook free stuff group. But you can see my pot is quite small. If maybe give it some new soil across the top. Give it a spot with some sun part of the day and let it go.

This is a very hardy plant.... I think it needs a bit more space... it grows like weeds in the where I grew up in coastal San Diego... my mother's home is covered with this and it's up to 4 to 5' feet tall. Every time I visit I have to cut it way down... it never fails to return to it's tall state and I don't do it gingerly... I would say give it a bit larger pot.

They will get a little leggy(spindly looking) if the don't get enough light. Not direct sun, that's too much. They are a succulent so go easy on the water. Make sure it's in the proper soil, not regular potting mix. You need one that's for succulents. You can find it on line or a a proper garden center, not Home Depot!
