If that’s the only concern I think your in good shape :)

If this is your forever home you’ll probably redo some things in the future anyways.
I would save up to create more of a casual entryway.
Is there room to move the door someplace else?

Otherwise the current set up doesn’t seem terrible. I’d make an effort to have everyone put the stuff into the closets.

Whoever design this kitchen did a fabulous job camouflaging the entry. Is there a closet right there next to cubbies? Is there a back door?

I love the fact the family entry is where it makes sense to me if you are truly worried then add some coat hooks and back pack drop off in the garage or at least put their stuff into the closets and take back packs to their room . Shoes are a PITA often so a rule in place that limits pairs at that entry to 2 per person and a handy place to put them is the answer

The cabinetry is perfectly done in that area so you have a place for jackets, shoes, backpacks, etc. Teach your kids to use the closed door storage for things you don't want to see. It's nice to have the backpacks close to the kitchen table for homework, lunches, etc.

I have a similar problem. Our garage door enters the kitchen between a large bank of pantry cabinets and the kitchen cabinets, so can't move that door. The kitchen table is directly in front of the bank of pantry cabinets and then you walk around that table to get to the sliding door for the screened in porch. The table is just weird. We never eat at it. We normally sit at the counter height bar..and there's very little space between the kitchen bar and the kitchen table. Just feels like we're constantly walking around that table. I currently use the table to give subQ fluids to my cat 3x a week. Hanging the i.v. bag from the light above the table. Part of me wants to remove the table and the light and just leave it open. It's a constant spot for piles of stuff. I'm afraid if I remove it all that it will look odd as

Gorgeous home! I would take the doors off of that pantry area and make it into a bench with storage. You could add baskets to hide shoes and a screen to hide coats, etc. Hooks on the walls could fashionably hold keys. You could add a mirror across the back to make the room look even larger from afar.

Since this entry will be used most often, I suggest you train yourself and your family to use the adjacent closet for storing their gear and outerwear immediately. Put a standing sign on the breakfast table to remind them: “STOW YOUR JACKETS AND GEAR BEHIND DOOR #1”. Tape a “1” on the closet/cabinet door. If they don’t follow the instruction, take their gear and outerwear into the garage and put it in the car or in a large cardboard box. You, of course, must set the good example by putting your own stuff away, too. Having to go retrieve their stuff five or six times may be enough for them to learn to read the sign and follow orders.
