Really helps to look at inspiration pictures, as you’ll get a good feel how tiles feel in a large area. Search white and black kitchens.

We had thought not too since it may cause damage to the granite underneath and it may all need to be replaced

Unfortunately I have already ordered this tile which cannot be returned since it’s a custom order. And it’s quite expensive. I went by an awesome designer’s recommendation on this tile before ordering it. Now that it’s here … I’m having doubts! 😞
I like the arabesque design just getting worried now that it may be too much!

It's too white against your cabinets as showing on my monitor, the stark white makes the warm white cabinets look dingy.

Maybe my monitor is not sharp, but I am not seeing the white problem.

Actually I like the arabesque tile as it provides some interest. Your kitchen is not fussy, it is simple. A good thing IMO.

i like the tiles youve chosen but would definitely have preferred a tile more creamy in color. bea beautiful kitchen.

The cabinet with glass, right above the tile. It didn’t seem as white in the sample. Also it will look more subtle with lighter grout, the black outline won’t show like it is now.

Would not stack a second backsplash on top of existing backsplash. Are your cabinets as creamy as they look in the pictures?

This is just what I could photo shop. In real the the grey would be more subtle, the arabesque size smaller and the pattern would be continuous.

Yes cabinets are as they look. I know that the tile seems whiter. It seems more ivory in the sample.

Oh, boy...you're not going to like my opinion. On top of not being the right tone of white based on the colors on my monitor, I really don't like the arabesque with your floor tiles. You've got a degree of busy-ness already because of the size of the floor tiles and all the grout lines on the floor, now you're adding more busy-ness with the arabesque. You might be able to get away with an arabesque in a color because it would pull the eye up and away from the floor and be the focal point, but I just don't think that tile looks good in your space, it's a mix-a-white fail, my eye doesn't know where to rest or what to focus on.

We are going to be painting/staining the floor grout so the lines don’t show. Also arabesque seems much more pronounced now but we will be using a lighter grout so it will be much more subtle
I just had to go with what image I could find if the laid out tile just to get a rough idea.

I believe you mentioned you have purchased, it was expensive and can’t be returned. Since you like the design which is really important, I think its shade will just work out. Actually the shade didn’t have a negative influence on me as much as the design.

The kitchen is otherwise very square/rectangle and black white so wanted to add a pattern that’s why we chose the arabesque.
Maybe just changing the lighting to soft warm will make the difference less noticeable.

You mentioned the tile was recommended by a designer. Did this person come out to your house and view the samples with you?

There is one more option Maureen didn't mention. If you aren't sure about this tile, don't spend even more money and get it installed. You can resell it to get some money back and start over.

If you love the tile then you should go ahead, but first spend a few minutes thinking about why you started this post ...

Yes the designer was at home and chose this tile with the sample.
I have asked her to come back and take a second look and help decide which route to go now.

This thread seems like you're trying to convince yourself you made a good choice, which tells me your gut is telling you you didn't.

You are probably right…I’m second guessing myself!

I like it. It will be fine. However I would have picked a colorful patterned tile. But you can only choose one....you picked the one that seems lined up with your general aesthetic I think. I would dress up the hardware I think...when you have time to spend on that . One thing at a time.

I like the new tiles but it looks like the sample is sitting on a blue board, which is throwing me off.

Aaahh…got it. I will remove that board and see.

Like the design much better, updates kitchen a bit more and will change the entire feel, as the other one is so similar to what you had originally.

Just my opinion but your kitchen is super traditional.very pretty but super traditional. i just see something more timeless working. But i still would not stack a second backsplash on existing

What do you specifically mean by stacking a second backsplash over existing. Do you mean over the black granite?
