Try nothing. I don’t understand why people feel the need to fill every space on every wall and in every corner of their home. Unless and until you come across something you actually love and want to look at every day, just leave the space empty.

I like the baskets. They just need to be arranged much closer together. In a little cluster rather than spread out.

I'd move the TV over there, where it would be better scaled, and then find a small print (about the size of your firebox) to hang over the fireplace.

Unless it’s just the way it’s photographed, the TV looks squished into the corner, and I think it would look better to place it where all the baskets are. For one thing, it would give the fireplace more prominence. Your cabinets are sleek and smooth, and that area needs to be decluttered. I’d start by removing all the baskets, plants, and photos, and rest the TV on top of the cabinets. Try that and see how it looks.

I think the TV would look more naturally placed in the indented space where it wouldn't take over the room so much. A fireplace is a great feature, but right now it's overpowered by the TV.

I agree. Move the TV to other side and decorate simply above fireplace.

Remove the baskets and the excess plants in pots. Remove the bright blue thing. Keep the framed photos, one nice potted plant and the one taller thing with the interesting top. Does the mini lamp serve any purpose? If you have a piece of art (or two) to hang there, do so. Less clutter, more interesting.

I would also move the tv, it looks squished and it is unbalanced to the eye where it is. If you move it over you could put a couple things (maybe a plant, etc) by the tv corners and then decorate the fireplace wall, if needed. I would keep it very simple though. There are nice clean lines in your cabinets so I would aim to stay with less. It's going to look bare at first but live with it a few weeks before adding more. Also, I would stuck to something more organic in nature if you do something on the wall, I think a giant picture is just going to mirror the tv with a big rectangle. I prefer the idea of shelves, hanging wall sculpture, etc.

I concur with removing ALL the clutter, moving the TV to the indented space and I would find a really interesting framed mirror to place above the fireplace and decorate with candles in some creative way.

I think use your best pictures of the family members framed all in the same size and hung in a grid. Either do 9 or 16 photos in the grid, but fill the whole niche. You could make all the photos into black and white if you like, or get them reproduced so they are all a pastel or pop color, or mix up with different colors (or maybe all black and white except one, or all one pastel except one different pastel or black/white)

Might suggest that you mount the tv on the wall where the baskets are now. As another poster said the tv looks like it's crammed into its present position.

Some nice floating shelves and a dry bar - stay away from the clutter !! I agree with all re moving the tv to that space and perhaps purchasing a mount that allows you to pull out and angle for your husbands needs

I wonder if people sitting on the couch will block others view. It seems that the TV is high enough and the couch low enough that that won't happen.

Our TV is also in a similar position on a slanted wall. On the adjacent wall over the mantle we have one very large piece of art, that’s it. Sometimes a TV just needs to go where it will be visible to the viewers. I can see mine from the kitchen, living room/dining and the breakfast nook. It’s large and I don’t apologize for its size or placement and neither should you. You have already received lots of good ideas and I’m sure you will find one that suits your needs. Good luck!

Would think about flipping the sectional 90 degrees and moving the TV to the place on L. That addresses your hubby’s concern and I think would both look and function better (if dimensions allow).
