help with mudroom/laundry room flow into the house

I’m adding a mudroom/laundry room from the garage into the house to do something with the weird space in the front of my house and make a real foyer.

I was originally thinking of including a pantry but I think that may be better spent for a bench and hangers or cabinets. What do you think? We will eventually make the kitchen all the way to the back wall and move the dining table to right behind the mudroom.

What I’m struggling with (in addition to general mudroom layout) is where the door should be into the house. Is it weird that you enter into the dining room? Would it make more sense to put the door leading to the hallway of bedrooms?

The pantry jut-out kills the flow. Design the kitchen now so everything is conceived from the get-go. Don't know the dimensions without interpolating, but in this scheme you can extend the new Laundry/Mud/Pantry further into the Dining if there is at least 15'-0" for a table + circulation past it. Maybe then even have room on the kitchen side for a pantry (or pantry cabs).

If you redo the kitchen you should have room for a pantry in that size of kitchen . So maybe just shelves for now? Definitely don't do the jut out! (3 on the tree 👍)

Thanks everyone for your thoughts so far! I agree ideally no jut out, but it was originally meant to be a creative solution to a load bearing wall that I wanted to get rid of. The architect mentioned something about having to make one of the walls a shear wall. See current layout with a red circle on the current random wall I want to get rid of!

If you have an architect already on board, they can help you with the layout. We do not know where you live, what is above there, what looks like more than a small interior shear wall, what can be done with the addition, etc.
