New clearance plant haul

New clearance plant haul from Lowes today. A bit different because many of the annuals outside were 50% off; it is usually the near dead that are clearance. I got some red petunias being fairly certain they will reseed for next year. Also got a proven winners pink stripe petunia to under plant with a hydrangea; I had a red one return this year. And then my hydrangeas! I got a bloom struck with some cauliflower present and a 5 gallon strong hearts red hydrangea. IStronghearts was the priciest but it is beautiful and the blooms look like pistachio. I am planning to plant these in pots in the backyard. I spent about 40 bucks total but I bought nothing last year so I owe it to myself😁

I got everything planted before our temps hit the 90s. I plan on keeping the hydrangeas potted and they are situated in dappled shade. They are doing really well. I am now waiting for the 75% markdown to snag some rhododendrons. I know. It's a weakness. Here is a pic of my newly potted hydrangea and a couple of clearance annual babies.

Awww Ken, I was on lock down last summer. Hardly any flowers to tempt a gal. I'll be good from here on out. Except for maybe an iris or 2 to plant in the fall😁

Go for it mzdee! I think after last year not only do we deserve to do a little plant shopping (because I'm guessing most of us did NOT do it last year) but we deserve to be a little kind to ourselves. Better plants than some other vices lol!

Says the person who just ordered three hostas she really doesn't need....

Enjoy. Be careful when planting if it is hot where you are. Consider adding "extra shade", watering at "summer watering levels" and planting later when temperatures recede if very hot; you can keep them potted in bright shade with a couple hours of morning sun. Will go check Lowes later today! Ha!

enjoy!..if you knew how many new plants are sitting in my yard you wouldn't feel guilty..

plants are beautiful and good for the earth..why not plant as many as possible?..
