    Debra,

Your blues are divine! The heat in NC melts the blue away so fast. Please keep posting!

    Jon,

Lovely plants, and thanks for the silliness. Good job sneaking in a few that have a hint of blue.

Saija - nice pics. I especially like the way you captured the many colors of Olympic Gold Medal all at once. That must be the perfect exposure for it.

Debra - I don't think Prairie Sky can revert. Perhaps they are just new leaves without the waxy build up and

Are you sure steve? It comes from ((x rupifraga) x Maruba Iwa) x Blue Jay…….. does not revert to Blue Jay possibly????? The leaf shape is so different than PS.

    Also steve…..love Mourning Dove…

gardenchick, your Blue Angel is the loviest light blue I have ever seen! Mine has gone green now.

    utog, especially like Mystic Star….….

Saija, so nice to hear from you!! All of your hostas are beautiful! I especially love Dry Ice…….have not heard of that one before.

Jon, love the 4th one you showed…….is that Sharp Dressed Man???

INgg, the CRFV sooooooo puckered! Does it go through a ”black” like phase……or is that light dependent? I have seen some that look so dark.

    debra

Houzzed again…my post disappeared. i don’t know if it’s dependent on exposure, or maybe related to soil conditions? One year I bought several dark looking cultivars that I saw in the garden at Wade and Gatton, but none if them looked particularly dark anywhere in my yard. My CFRV is in high shade under a giant old swamp white oak.

djacob Z6a SE WI thanked indianagardengirl
  • 5 years ago

I've seen those dark CFRVs at W&Gs and it seems like High Shade would do the trick. Although, deep shade may be better. Maybe try some Epsom Salts if that's what you're looking for.

Reverting refers to something returning to the form it sported from. Therefore, a cross has nothing to return to since it came from seed. (One of the parents wouldn't count as reverting). Also, the second flush of leaves could certainly be smaller then the first flush.

Thanks steve……I guess I don’t always get the seed creation, vs the reversion……. your explanation helped! Thanks!
