Bev, is it a quilt made to a certain size - one for a queen bed, for instance? Or is it a child's quilt or lap quilt? That would be a consideration for me. A 100" wide quilt could shrink 3-5". If size isn't a concern, I'd go for it. 3-5% doesn't seem abnormal to me. I would guess all batting would get messed up in the washer if it was washed before it was quilted.

The batting is full size, but the quilt is 60" square, so the batting will be cut down to size. Thanks for your opinion. I'll go for it. I can get it basted before work this morning.

Bev, how did your quilt turn out?

I've worked this week. So it is glue basted and I'll start quilting tomorrow. Going to the sewing room to make the binding and label now. I'll be sure to post a pic. I love the quilt so far. Last night I made a cover for a pillow with the extra square I had from the Zelda quilt. I'll give both quilts to the kids on Monday.
