Hi! We are remodeling our small kitchen. Cabinet doors are being replaced (fabricated and painted) and cabinet boxes will be painted to match new doors. Well, doors were just delivered, unpainted to our house. So here are my questions:

1. Are shaker cabinet doors usually just chipboard with trim?

2. Is it standard practice to paint cabinet doors on site?

Maybe my expectations are out of whack, but it seems like this job is a mess and things are being done backwards. But this is our first remodel with a general contractor…and contractor is hard to reach.
