"Comet" type? It is a hybrid nobile type Dendrobium that needs a "cool" winter to do well.

Does it have a name tag?

No,I got it at a flea market. Wasn't even in bloom. I had it larger with more canes over the years..then almost lost it letting it get too dry on my porch. Last year went with the palm trunk. I also have an Oncidium doing well. It's another said to be too tender for the bay area. It's really grown too. The Oncidium was first to try..but something knocked it off the palm last year. I just replaced it- and tied it down this time. Last time,only had the boots and moss to hold it.

If you go to the Hybrid register and search for Dendrobiums with Comet in the name you will get 11 hits most bred by Yamamoto who bred nobile type Dendrobiums that do not need a severe degree of cooling to bloom in spring.

No idea how many hybrids Yamamoto registered, a guess hundreds.....
