Use a natural stone, not a fake, pre-cast stone.

I'm guessing the pool wall is raised to feature this detail. The wall should be water proofed prior to setting the stone. We use a product called Basecrete.

The setting material should have Acrylic 60 mixed in to provide additional water proofing.

Whenever we use natural stone for this detail, we run in below the water line. Stopping it above water line to me, looks cheezy and unfinished.

Thanks. I’m not sure what they used. I told them I wanted tile under but they need to take off a row of stone so debating if I should just leave it. You can see they started to remove the right side but I said let me think before they go further. Here are photos.

Is that real stone or cast concrete faux stone?

Concrete wont hold up well in a submerged a chlorine environment without a protective coating, and i would think that stacked stone texture will be hard to keep clean long term.

I can see the stone is set at the same depth as the tile where it intersects with the raised spa wall-looks fine.

What I don't like, is when the tile is continued along that raised wall at the same height, and the stone comes down on top. I feel it looks nicer when the stone breaks up the tile line.

No sealers will work on pre-cast or natural stone when subjected to a pool environment.

That is why I’m wondering if I should have them remove some stone and have tile all around?
