Living space HELP!

I need major help with our living space. We moved a few months ago and it’s a work in progress. I CANT move the TV so don’t suggest that please. While we would love to it would involve an electrician which we aren’t going to do right now.

I need ideas for the large wall. I plan to get rid of the recliner- ideas of what else to add or maybe nothing? We can take apart our couch and make it 2 separate ones. I was thinking of keeping it a sectional and adding a “section” on each end though. Maybe some end tables. Any and all ideas welcome!

We did have the couch with the back to the island at one point. That is an option. Also making sectional a full “U” is an option too.

Have you considered rotating the rug? I feel like part of what is not working is how far away the couch is from the fireplace. Could you turn the rug, then pull the sectional away from the wall and bring it forward onto the rug a bit? Bringing the sectional off the wall would also fill the space better. It would mean more space behind the couch, of course, so perhaps you could consider a console table. I don't think you need to make the couch any bigger!

I winged it on the dimensions here so the distances might not be quite accurate, but this is the general idea...

I would turn the rug the other way. Move the sectional so that at least the front legs are on the rug and it is at least a foot from the wall. Move the swivel chair so it is on the rug. Buy another set of drapery panels so each window is framed by them. Then I would get one or two pieces of art to hang on that wall.

You're too hard on yourself and don't have to twist yourself into a pretzel to make this room work.

--As suggested Absolutely a center the sofa on the fireplace so that it's floating.

--Get plain white, airy curtains for the window instead of ivory to echo fireplace surround rather than the chair. Or white Roman shades--see photo below.

--Move your floor lamp behind the recliner to make it a reading lamp.

--Consider two modern wall lamps flanking an art work on the big wall. The one nearest the window will bring a glow to that corner and the floor lamp will do the same to the right of the fireplace.

--Get a large round coffee table, possibly a nesting one, so it's reachable from all seating. This will give your room a more functional yet cozier feeling.

Get another matching upholstered stool like the one you have and store it under the sofa table. This sofa has both a throw and the sofa table--looks like your room could with art on the big wall!

A little sofa for the center, and a large cabinet for the wall.

We wanted to share some of our designs with you. Here we've included a few ideas on how you might be able to set up your sectional and rug. If you are not planning on moving the TV, then perhaps a piece of artwork would work well on the blank wall.
