I would cut the bloomed out stalks to the level of the rest of the bush to keep a rounded shape.

I agree with Sheila. Nice choice, cnmitchmd, they look gorgeous!

To avoid the candelabra effect on those long canes, you might prune somewhat lower than the rest of the bush because it will expand out sideways from where you prune. Branching from lower down on the bush will help the whole bush fill out more fully.
