what materials are used in this pergola? what treatments if any? paint? sealer? etc.

    They appear to be clear Cedar. Could be one of the Exotic woods that would hold up to weather better than the Cedar. If Cedar they should have a clear finish, at least. And then, if Cedar, they would have to be re-sealed every 3 years, if not every 2 years, or they will gray up. You could use a high grade oil-based stain for color, but still every 3 years ,or so.
