No can do😉 Mints are impossible. I just grow and eat the ones I like the taste of and never know what they're called. My only comment is to give them a lot more room and get the Lemon Balm out of there before it swamps everything .

Yes the Lemon Balm is going. Man, it is growing at a rate, as if on steroids.

As for giving them more room, nope! They are inprisoned in that planter, where they will have no choice but to behave.

There are others, with the 'odd' smell, in the garden, but they are going to get their marching orders, very soon.

Mint is so variable, I agree that it's practically impossible to ID definitively, unless you've obtained named seeds or a cultivar.

FWIW, I find spearmint has the most pleasant scent/taste and is what's used the most for cooking. That's what I have growing, and I got mine from purchased seed.

If you want to guess, you can go by the flavor and aroma.

And that bed looks like it may soon become too small for that many plants.

carolb. Fear not. The Lemon Balm and the 'odd' smelling one are going to be evicted, leaving just the 2 "Garden Mint" plants.

Constrained by the planter, I KNOW that they won't start popping up as and when they feel like it. Mint might be the Houdini of the plant world but it can't get too far from this Alcatraz.
