Are all the leaves like the one pictured, or are there wider leaves further down on the plant? Any chance of getting a picture of the entire plant in situ?

Interesting that all came up with Rudibeckia ......the link shows a plant with a red center . This does not have a red center it is definitely brown . I wish I could add a full plant pic but it is my friend's plant and she lives quite a distance away so I don't think I will be down that way soon . Anyway thanks for the suggestions.

Rudbeckia hirta is very variable . Color forms can include plain yellow to two tone . Just do a search and see for yourself all the images on line.

Of course Rudbeckia hirta. Every year it comes on my property in new combinations of browns and yellows.
