That is a possibility, do you think we'd need a custom door since the doorway is not a standard size? I'm also planning on remodeling the bathroom and it's going to be pretty dreamy. I'd hate to keep the view shut away.

Yes, it will likely be a custom door. Can't help on blocking the view; it is what it is.

Since you are remodeling, is there no way to widen the doorway?

I wonder if you do French doors, can they swing in? There are several examples on Houzz.

Unfortunately, I can't really change the structure in that area to allow for a larger door area. There is a structural beam that runs to the left of the doorway and then through where the bathroom is located, we would have to add an addition to our home to allow for more room- not really wanting to add on to our home and it's not in the budget.

I wish we could have French doors (thanks for the pics!), but the doorway is very narrow, so the French doors would have to be extremely slim- not sure how that would all work out.

I might be stuck with this funky door! Maybe I should embrace it?!

I've thought about a small bi-fold door instead...maybe an option??

I don’t have a big problem with it, honestly other than it needing a refresh. It actually gets out of the way more than a bi-fold or regular door (and is as close to a pocket door as you’d get in terms of protrusion). My choice would be to either find a narrow bi-fold door or paint this one white to blend in better. Or are your other doors natural wood, not painted?

Painting could be an option. Our other doors are white in our home.

My only problem with the accordion door is that it's tricky to get it to latch when closing it.

I wonder if there are replacement latches available? Maybe not, but worth a try.
