Depends on the person. My mother liked a lot of pillows - I have only two on my couch. I like and use throws much more than pillows.

Maybe add a stripe or geometric pattern on a bolster. Mix it up a bit for interest.

You can add more pillows if you want, but you might want to choose solid colors or pillows with texture if you are going to add more of them.

If you have to move pillows in order to be comfortable sitting would suggest you eliminate pillows instead of adding. If everyone is comfortable sitting with a pillow behind them then, yes (very much) to Bandd Design's pillow number and selection.

Please remember that not everyone sitting on a sofa are the same size-some may need the pillows because of depth of sofa seat while others may not.

Would larger pillows in solid color in the corners work for you?
