Ideas for empty wall.

last modified: 5 years ago

I need ideas of what to put on the wall behind my dining room set. It is an open concept room. We still have to center the chandelier. It was a new build and that is what came with it. I also need ideas for the cubby behnd the chair.

Artwork for sure, maybe 3 pictures across rather than 1 large one? Need some context for color….what colors are in the other areas? And the table looks off center….the end chair should line up with the middle panel on the wall behind it, so scootched a bit toward the kitchen.

I just uploaded new photos. i think navy is my color im open to suggestions

I would center the table in that area - it will fit better with the molding and look better with art. For art, I'd do a LARGE square colorful picture...something like this would be nice...

I would add 3 round mirrors across the wall, same material as island stools, you have a lot of angles and this would soften the area, and reflect the light from the beautiful window. If not round then a rectangle mirror. Good-luck.

I disagree about putting mirrors there….I wouldn’t want to be looking at myself in the mirror while dining. You have a lovely home with nice flow and the blues and beiges are a good start. I think it needs color on the wall….orange is complimentary to blue so a bit of orange in some artwork would be nice. You know what you like…florals? Sea scenes? Contemporary? Nature? Go to some artwork sites and browse….or better yet go to a gallery for original art. They will usually let you take a piece home on approval so you can see it in your space.

Maybe something like this, in a dark wood tone, white, or brushed nickel. When I am trying to decide on a decor piece this important…I get a few pieces, and a few friends, entice with food or wine, but not beforehand😉…have them hold up item. You can usually rule out what you don’t like immediately. Easier to make decision this way.

Center the table first or move the electrical box

IMO this painting with the white background looks very nice in front of your gray walls. Adds a spark to the room.

There are plenty of options for art for your walls. Look at GreatBigCanvas.com

That gives me a good idea of how a large picture will look. I can’t tell what that picture is. Do you have a site to look at for art work? Any suggestions for color palet for the art?

You have a lovely home. For the dining room wall, one very large piece of art to make a statement. For the cubby, several ideas... a bar area for entertaining, a desk area for a computer area if needed, could make shelves for more display or cabinetry for storage. Do you have a specific functional need for the home?

    Your home is just beautiful!

for dining area I would hang sets…2 large or up to 12 small…

these are all by Uttermost..very high quality the framing and mat are really beautiful on all of them.

The cubby behind the chair would be perfect for a bookcase or a shallow cabinet. The dining area wall is large enough for two or three medium pieces of art or one big painting.

The cubby would look lovely with a writing desk and small accent chair…a mirror could hang over it..add a beautiful lamp. Give the measurements I can post a few ideas for you.

The cubby is 53” wide X 25 1/2” deep and 9’ to ceiling
