I have a similar house with a 2-story living room and a big blank wall. I personally am not adding any art to the blank wall so I can let the tall windows and out staircase be the focus. I believe art should be kept around eye level, but the pros can confirm or refute that lol

Decorate where the people live, below the door frames of the "first" floor level. Hang art centered 5' above the floor or 5" above furniture.

Not a pro, but I agree with advice above. Your beautiful high ceilings will already draw the eye up; focus on decor at eye level.

Agree with the above and also suggest you remove the mirror over the fireplace and add artwork that you love;a painting will add color and personality to the room.

Draperies that start at the tall ceiling and go down to the floor would look beautiful, add interest, warmth, and life to the room. But they cost a lot. I will link a thread with a lot of pics and suggestions.

I agree with the curtains. Still waiting on my mom to make them years later lol Literally years… the mirror is custom made and installed over the fireplace. I love it there.

If you love the mirror, hang a pretty chandelier to be doubled by it. A replication of the upstairs railings is not very pretty or interesting.

Beautiful home. Decor at eye level may be some large piece of artwork. Here are some ideas to ponder. Good luck and enjoy decor !
