Hi Ken! I live in San Jose CA, in the hills where we have lots of insects, deer, raccoons, foxes and all kinds of nuisances. Its been quite warm the last month upper 80s to mid 90s which is normal for here. I used to water daily but some of my tomatoes (napoli long tomatoes) developed decay at the tips so I've switched to every other morning with deeper watering. I also check to make sure the soil is mostly dry before watering again. The dirt itself I completely replaced this year (5 feet down) as the soil here is mostly sand, rock and clay. It was replaced with a organic garden blend from a local soil business. I mix up 1 tbsp maxibloom per 2 gallon once every other week and water all the plants. I actually just did a soil test today using the luster leaf kit and its sitting at 6.5 PH, NPK is deficient, sufficient, sufficient. If the test is accurate looks like I need more nitrogen so im ordering some Neptune's harvest fish meal to supliment. I also noticed there seems to be a spider mite problem as i saw some of that webbing and 1 of my pepper leaves had the white eggs, I sprayed them down with neem oil and dish soap blend which seems to be working mostly, I use this yearly especially after initial plant due to all the bugs herr but got a bit lax the last 2 months in spraying. The fact that all the new flowers are also withering and dying is killing me, this is the 4th year I've had a garden and have never had this happen. Any advice appreciated!! Thanks!

It is not how late blight looks like. Could be just too much of everything: replacing, watering, spraying. In the future rather try to build your soil instead. It could be long process, but it is worth it.

New flowers drying and withering could be just plain too much heat...watering won't help at all..if climate change is going to give you 100 degree temps, I would seriously think about investing in shade cloth..other than that...heat kills.

I'd guess you need a fertilizer balanced for tomalo/peppers/eggplant (all nightshades) and another for other vegetables. You might be getting end-rot from a lack of magnesium, which is common in CA. Try making a weak solution of Epsom Salts in water to help that.

I agree that you need to build your soil, starting with really good compost.

I also agree that the many vegetables, especially those in the nightshade family don't like high temperatures. Ours have been in the 100s for weeks.now. The peppers are about the only things that seem to thrive in the heat.
