Funny you mention this as just *yesterday* I reserved a Veronicastrum virginicum (with the white flowers) that I will pick up later this week. 'woody', I love seeing the pics you post of your superb white Culvers Root specimen. I want my own.

@porkchop_z5b_MI , I purchased Culver’s Root at a small nursery called Willow Greenhouse at 6 mile and Curtis Rd…I think it’s in Salem Township, which is NE of Ann Arbor. It’s a new find for me! Their perennials are 30% off right now and they have a pretty good variety of plants to choose from.

Thanks! Haven't heard of that place -- will have to check it out. I have a couple days off end of this week and will be in the Ann Arbor area so if I have time I'll stop it just to see what's what (always good to find a new place -- we have so many good nurseries in SE MI, we are truly blessed in that regard). If you're ever in the Lansing Area, Van Atta's can't be beat. :0)

Oh, that is lovely. Space? It's tall and thin. You don't need much ground, just vertical space. A square foot should do, with 5 feet going vertically.

That is true @Marie Tulin Boston burbs z 6a ie surprisingly little ground space but given its height at maturity such a tall plant does require a special location in the garden.

Here is the smaller of my two ”Fascination”, planted in its new home, with Tuscan Sun to the right, Little Lime behind, and Autumn Joy & Rozanne in front. I’m very thankful to have learned about this beautiful and interesting plant and excited to see it mature in the coming years! :-)

@lovemycorgi z5b SE michigan your newly planted CR seems perfectly placed. (It does seem like a very large healthy specimen).

Love where you put Fascination! I started planting veronicas last year, starting with a really short one (Aspire), then realized I prefer the taller ones.

I have had a healthy stand of CR for many years. In 2021, slowly but surely the individual stems began to wither and 'die' over the summer until all were gone :(.

In the Fall I dug it up and just in case it wasn't actually dead, I transplanted it to another location.

I was pleased to see it come to life this past spring with lots of individual stems rising from the earth. But now, again the 'wilt' is happening :(.

Has anyone else experienced similarly with CR?

I had this happen to one of mine, not sure why. The other stems are unaffected so far.

What I didn’t count on is what water-hogs these guys are! Maybe because mine were newly planted last year and are still becoming established? The one I have planted in part-shade is easier to care for, so I may be moving the other to a similar setting.

Thanks, @ruth_mi, that does seem like that could be it, at least in my case. One of my plants has seemed sickly this year - I’ve tried fertilizing and ensuring adequate light and moisture, but it still doesn’t look great. Hmmm…

Rouge! That "quality specimen of CR WHITE" you just picked up this morning is gorgeous! Where did you find it? I'd like to drive there to buy it!

I planted six last year. five of six have had same issue. Stem by stem die back. One is perfectly fine and blooming beautifully. Of the five, 4 in one part of my garden, 1 in a different spot. The one that did well is in same light, soil, water conditions as the 4 that bit the dust.

Really quite disappointing because the ine doing well is quite outstanding!

Made me sad.
