It looks like you are improving the entire back yard? Before scrolling down to the pics, the drawing layout looked like Arizona to me. But it appears you have a seasonal climate, so keeping that in mind.

Without full info, can only assume the house exit is near the house 'notch' at the sliver side of patio? And the shape and raised elevation appears to be a fiberglass pool, and you're debating moving it closer within a couple feet of the house to the armour stone retaining wall like the fat black line sketch? It looks like 8' between the house and pool now, so for circulation, sun patterns, and a seasonal climate, I'd recommend keeping that larger distance. I wouldn't put the retaining wall up against the masonry veneer house wall. Also, it looks like the pergola variation pertains to something with the pool location where it's currently shown.

I would additionally ask if you have to cross turf to get to the bar (pool and non-pool uses, non-pool season)? And a future sunroom shape on the curved patio footprint?

@3onthetree thanks for your reply. I am in Ontario, Canada so yes: seasonal climate. The house exit is on the far right of the designated patio area. We are installing a semi-onground which necessitates the need for the armour stone retaining wall; we are debating shifting the pool back so it is closer to exit & adjacent to the future sunroom (which will be appx 10 x 12 and covering the area where our patio seating is currently). As for the turf, yes we would be crossing it to reach both the bar and pool: that is of course unless we move the pool altogether!

So I caught your other thread on ideas for landscaping a side yard. Looking at the pics and comments there, I have done a quick sketch piecing together more info just to illustrate some points and a WAG on some improvements for my fun.

First, you have to do a comprehensive plan of everything together; if you want a pool, softscape, hardscape, sunroom, pergola, etc it should all be designed simultaneously. That doesn't mean it has to built at the same time, but consideration given to the future design or even allowing flexibility if you do not know exactly what you want or will want.

Second, you have to start with the proper, and complete, information for whomever is running this show (DIY, landscape architect/designer, architect, builder). There probably are some constraints, like building setbacks, accessory/auxiliary setbacks, utilities, impervious surface percentages, storm runoff, etc. Show those, show your interior spaces, show the neighbor's houses, show the sun direction. Also, there may be more detailed constraints, for example, if the regulated 6' max height of fence is measured from the low side, and you are raising a pool area 3', then the fence may be only 3' high on the pool side (but 6' on the neighbor's side). Then, realizing and accepting these tight restraints of a flat corner lot, you may have to adjust your want list, the design, and a picture may start to develop of how all this should take shape.
