I was clearing off some of my land last fall and left it grwoing and here it what it looks like today(5 gallon bucket for size comparison)

Verbascum 'Sixteen Candles' is a fully perennial Verbascum that looks very much like the first photo. It returns year after year. And doesn't spread seed everywhere.

I'm not sure which mullein this is but one or two of them come up every year and I like it.

It sends up a tall stalk of yellow flowers, not a candleabra of them.

Well, just as soon as I say it has no candleabra, it puts out a candleabra. But it's a little one...a tall yellow stalk with a little branching at the top. I do like the foliage on it the best. It is a big rosette of velvety soft greyish green. I think it's Wooly Mullein. It's very tough, grows in a dry, gravely spot near the street. It's a welcome weed, partly because it doesn't spread like crazy.
