I think a wood colored door would look good with your brick/stone (hard to tell)

Get closer for pics . Not white, that much is certain.

There will be a sharp contrast in white, or you can choose other colors. The dark color is the same as the color of the house itself, and it looks a bit boring.

I would do a pop of color with the garage door and front door matching - possibly pull in some flowering bushes to unify - if you want to stay with the dark then have the garage door match the stone work so it balance it out

Why would you highlight a garage door? As is, the garage door looks neon - “Look at me! Look at me!”

If you want to highlight something, highlight the front door and let the garage door fade away into the house.

I could see a saffron color on both garage and front door. Normally I like a garage to fade visually, but think it could be complementary to the stone, tie house together and create more dimension.

Liking your "moody" choice. Would paint the garage door and its trim the same color as the house and make your front door the "different" area so it can be the focal point of your home.

If you want a paint color for your front door area, consider burnt sienna.

Also like the saffron tan suggested by Maureen.

Not that you asked ... just a suggestion:

Consider making the entire area between house and driveway in front of your door a walk path with an arbor roof. You could leave grass or moss or ground cover grow between large pavers or you could add round pebbles rather than pour concrete over the entire area.

You could attach the arbor to the house at the soffit and/or add greenhouse roofing to let in light rather than leave it "open" between the rafters.

You should also at least consider adding a covered porch in that area alongside the garage. It may be that you want/need the extra shelter from the rain as you enter or you might want to add a pair of chairs and a tiny table sit in on the porch in better weather or even a dry place for delivery people to leave your packages.

One objective of adding a walk path -- covered or not -- is to be able to put a "welcome" vibe even with the front exterior wall of the house saying this is where you enter.

Just a thought: Men like cars ... so his wanting to use white to draw attention to what is likely one of his favorite parts of the new home might have been part of that... albeit subconsciously... so... just maybe ... you could smile sweetly as you stand your ground?

If your mailbox is on that same side of the driveway as your door, you could continue your walk path all the way to your mailbox.

It’s a paint brand from a UK, but if you like the shade, I’m sure once you start comparing different brands’ paint chips you could find something that would provide the same overall effect.
