New front door input

We have a MCM home (although it has shutters and they are staying since there is no siding beneath and we are not re siding the house). We are replacing the front door and have the MCM side panel to the right of the door which I like the design of but don’t love the texture of the glass (I believe called monumental). We would love to have some glass on our front door to let in some light and aren’t sure if the 3 panel would be too busy with the side panel, or if we should go with the vertical lite. Or maybe you think the competing glass texture is an issue and we should pop out the MCM side panel and put a more modern glass there? We are planning to do a dark stained wood similar color to our back door. Would love your insights! Thanks!

You might to also consider creating a retention wall with steps to level the area between your front door and the garage door.

    I like BeverlyFLADeziner door suggestions.

You could paint the white panels the same color as the siding.

I think you should have a railing. A metal one with glass panels would look good.

Since "other" is an option, are you committed to the MCM vibe for your front entry or just looking for a door and sidelight(s) you actually like? Of the two, if they're the only option, I'd choose the one with the one vertical glass (safety/security reasons as well as looks) since you're keeping the glass blocks beside it.

Are you planning to remove the glass blocks and the door opening up a larger space for an entry door -- and how would that affect your interior if you considered a door centered n that area with two sidelights with windows above waist high?

Have you considered double doors? A new panel on the right?

@decoenthusiast, I would love double doors but the window panel is above a stair well to the downstairs. But these photos do make me thing more about a new panel on the right

@houssaon, love the rendering! We do have a new railing on the list but hadn’t considered a glass one. That looks great! And good idea with the shutters the body color

@BecerlyFLADeziner, these photos are great inspiration! Seeing these are making me lean towards updating that right panel. Also, I don’t love the rockery/drop off we have now between the front and driveway so a retaining wall like these would probably make big impact.

@suezbell, I’m not 100% committed to the MCM vibe, but it definitely fits in our neighborhood and houses (some are still original owners who haven’t updated, and some have been updated MCM). We have updated the interior and not gone full MCM however.

I wish I could have double doors, but there is a downstairs stairwell on the other side of the panel. Do you have any suggestions for option C if we forgo MCM?

Suggest painting the shutters the same color as the siding (since you can’t remove), so they aren’t prominent and consider painting garage door blackish grey which will better complement a wood MCM front door. I voted for the single vertical glass styled door to better complement side panel and will also feel less busy.

@Maureen, thanks for your input! I had considered doing a dark gray for the garage so will revisit that idea- I was too nervous to execute! Our windows are vinyl and white- do you think those should be painted black too, or leave them unpainted? I saw in the inspiration picture they are black so would love any and all advice on whether that needs to coordinate. Appreciate it!

IMO the vertical lite will work better with the existing sidelite.
