Congrats! I know this has been a journey!

Wow! Wishing you many safe years of retirement sailing/living. Do you plan on going island to island? We have friends who have lived on their sailboat for about 15 or more years and they love it (no kids)! We stay connected through FB.

Wow, Char, i am so jealous. i owned my own sailboat for about 22 years. i kept it on Lake Minnetonka here in Minnesota and raced all summer long. Will you be living on her or just adventuring on her? Some of my fondest memories are of sailing on my friend’s Morgan 44 in the British Virgin Islands.

Oh, wow, how exciting! I want to learn to sail SO badly! I keep telling hubby, but I think he thinks I'm joking. I just love being on a sailboat.

I'm somewhat jealous (not that I would insert myself in your stead, though). It's a beautiful boat. Sailing is the closest thing to flying I've ever experienced. I competed in Hobie Cat racing back in the 70's. Best of luck to you in following your dream.

TY all. We are very excited. The former owner left a great deal of personal stuff on the boat and it has been interesting exploring each compartment. Cleaning everything and testing all of the systems on board are our first priorities.

I am not a water baby, so this would not be my idea of fun. But I admire those who do love it. I hope it answers all your dreams.

Char, best of luck. My brother flew back tonight from his first transatlantic sail - San Miguelon to the Azores. He's in charge of racing at their yacht club on Long Island Sound.

Lois, didn't know you sailed the BVI! Bet if I described our dock you would know it exactly. Char, let me know if you get down there. My sewing space is all set up.

Latifolia, which island are you on? I sailed there in the 90's, so my memory has probably faded since then.

My greatest sailing advertures were doing the Transsuperior Yacht Race in '93 and '95. I was the only woman on board the boat in '93, and in '95, I was part of the first all-women crew to attempt and finish the race. It is about 450 nautical miles from the locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, at the east end of Lake Superior to Duluth, Minnesota, at the west end. It took us four days and nights. Our boats, sloops, were 39' and 36' respectively. Both trips were quite the adventure: everything from dead calm and 90 degrees, to six foot waves and 45 degrees overnight. I kept diaries, and it's so much fun to reread them periodically.

Latifolia, my husband has lofty aspirations to head to Bermuda, then Azores, but I think it will be a while(several years) before we even leave the FL/Bahamas area. I do hope that we venture south east to BVIs and further eventually. Lois, the great lakes are way too cold for me I think. My husband, however, sailed Lake Michigan much of the summer for years during high school and college, mostly the Chicago area out of Montrose Harbor. All of my experience was on our friends Tartan 35 doing day sails off of Palm Beach/Jupiter. Baby steps for now 😉.

Lois, across from Marina Cay is Diamond Reef. There is one low, L-shaped dock built right onto the reef, with a shallow lagoon behind it. That's us! House is up the hill on the promontory.

Our island neighbors just had their first baby, a girl. I need to pull out a pattern and fabric and get to a sewing day.

Sweet, sailing-themed quilt. Are you on Tortola or one of the little islands? I must say, I can’t recall the specific area. But lucky you to have a home in paradise.

That's really cute! I was looking at sailing flags to possibly make a throw quilt, but I haven't settled on any pattern yet.
