Congrats on finding a house! It must feel like a huge win! I know a lot of Florida homes have tile all the way through like yours. If you are sticking with tile, I would switch it to a realistic looking medium or light toned wood-look tile that doesn't have a lot of variation. For paint I would just lighten things up while staying in the cream family.

Do you have your furniture? As paint is the last thing selected. Once you have access to your new home, take a kitchen door front and go shopping for a countertop. In the meantime, do your research on different countertop materials so you have a good idea what will meet your needs for maintenance. And while you shop and if you find a material/look you like better, you'll know the plus' and minus' and can make the decision if it checks off your boxes. As far as the floor. Because of the size of the tile, 12 x24 I'm guessing that is a fairly new floor. I'd wait on tearing it up until you have the countertop selected and then you'll know what to do with the floor.

As far as Coastal/Tropical feel. I had a friend in FL with similar colors as you are showing us. She introduced the color coral in the main rooms with accent walls and accessories. Her furniture was different shades of cream. She used various light green in other rooms. Bathrooms she had more fun with "Tropical" wall paper. I'll never forget her monkey themed wallpaper in the Powder Room. Her condo looked timeless and not like all the other FL "coastal" condos. Just some food for thought... Enjoy your new home..

Flooring needs to be your first decision because it is such a large area and will determine the style and colors you use elsewhere. For Florida, I actually like what you have currently. It looks updated and neutral. I'd suggest you move in with your furniture, live there a bit, and then decide what you want to change. Everything is very neutral except the taupe color on the island, which you could change if it doesn't work with your furnishings.

Agree with deciding on a floor first , but I do think that those tan/taupe colors on the walls and island need to go! You could go with a paler but matching cream to almost-white, with a pale neutral color (like a blue or soft blue-green) on the ceiling; or anything from a bright coral to a pale warm green-blue on the walls. Cream looks great with wood accents, too.

I personally like your floors too, for FL. Look at BM Smoke or SW Sea Salt for the walls if you want some color. I'd paint the backside of the island the same color as the cabinets. If you are getting new counters, I'd make the island a rectangle if possible with overhang for stools. Look at Taj Mahal if you want to quartzite or maybe a creamier Calacatta Nuvo (Caesarstone). What great suggestions and I can’t thank you all enough! We sold our furniture with our house so have to get new - yet another challenge for me to try to visualize! Sounds like a more updated look can be achieved by changing the countertop rather than the floor. That would be less $ too - and I can enlarge the island! BTW, I did notice the under counter lighting, Celery…..Nice! I will go with the consensus and find a light cream color for the walls. I love the Sea Salt color - and corals, too. Hopefully I can incorporate both. Thank you all! Now…..a brown sofa or off white 🤔

Hire a decorator. Find one with a portfolio of completed designs YOU like. You could save thousands. My opinion, you need rugs, wall color and lighting, a fraction of what you’d spend replacing the floor.

I’m feeling like you’re all over the place…you are doing floors - yea or no? If yes then get those samples in the space up against the cabinets and current countertop. If countertop must change then first know the floors and do NOT do a solid white which will only make your cream cabinets feel off. Taj Mahal will work and Calacatta like quartz will work (but floors first). And why only brown or white options for a sofa? Here is where you can have some

Do you dislike the counters? I thought they weren't at all bad with the cabinets (but TBH busier than I would ever choose.) I thought the wall color and the dark color on the island were the biggest problems.

I agree with thinkdesignlive - you have to be very careful pairing white with cream because the cream can end up looking dingy or 'off'. The white needs to be a similar tone at-least-slightly-off white, although it can be lighter than the cabinets. A subtle pattern can help to pull it all together. I also agree that you should bring in some color somewhere - it doesn't have to be bold, if you are unsure about it! As mentioned before, ceilings are a great place to bring in a touch of color, even a subtle complimentary color to a different color on the walls.

You also need to be careful making sure that the wood tone works with the cabinet tone - and the counters. Don't choose any single one in a vacuum - mix and match samples until you find the right combo.

If the flooring is in poor condition, go ahead and change it. What I think the kitchen needs is a bit more contrast and an accent color. Art, runner rugs, window treatments, and a few accent pieces can bring in your accent color. White can make cream look dingy or yellowish, so I would concentrate on some color and a few accessories. You may want to change the stool fabric, too.

wood floors but were hesitant because of humidity in Florida and spills in the kitchen area. We went with Coretec Grande Empire Oak (Luxury Vinyl). Looks great. Everyone says they love our wood floors. We stopped correcting people.
