Help with Loba finish

Can anyone offer suggestions to get this overall look with Loba products other than using oil? Floor finisher will show us samples, I’d just lile a starting point. Live sawn white oak has already been installed.

Eleanor, I’m not an expert so hopefully someone else will chime in but my understanding is that the oils are a finish that permeates and seals the wood. Stain also permeates the wood but requires finishing coats of polyurethane to seal the wood. My floors in the photo above have a coat of sealer (no stain) and a coat of satin Loba 2K Supra AT (water based polyurethane) and will be getting another coat of it when the house is complete. Water based poly won’t amber over time like traditional oil based polyurethane will..

Photos of what you HAVE will tell us how you proceed to get a look you've seen in a perfectly lit photo (with photo shop).

I like Loba WS Easy Prime + 2-3 coats of Loba 2K Supra AT. Your FIRST coat of the AT = gloss. If you do THREE COATS you will do 2nd coat of gloss as well. THEN the FINAL COAT is the gloss level you are hoping for. That's when I would move to Satin.

The satin settles down to the gloss level you are seeing on the inspiration pic you are showing. It takes about 6 months - 1 year to achieve the LOWER gloss level...but it WILL happen. Trust me. Floors get DULLER as they age...NOT SHINIER.

Thanks for the advice. This is one coat of Easy Prime and one coat of Loba 2k Supra AT. The final coat will go on when everything else in the house is done. love the look so far!

Stunning! Sigh...I love this finish. It is so beautiful and the feeling underfoot is something you have to experience to believe.

what is the difference between a craft oil and a stain? Thx.

Craft oil is a finish not just stain. You can use it as is for a oil finish. For added protection , apply traffic hd over it.

Stain needs protective coating.

Your floors look awesome! This is the same as what we’re going to do with our white oak. What was the final coat?

Sousou, we are still waiting on the final coat due to home building delays but the final coat will be satin. The coat in the photo above is also satin. it isn't shiny at all. Just what i was hoping for. Good luck with your floors!
