Need help picking a kitchen floor

I’m stuck!

I am doing a ‘refresh’ of the kitchen in my new place.
The kitchen was brand new, with solid wood, high quality cabinets with shaker fronts. The layout works, I just dislike all of the finishes.

So, I’m having the cabinets painted and I am springing for new countertops, floors and backsplash. I’ll also be adding new appliances.

I’ve settled on the following:

  • SW Tricorn Black for the lower cabinets and the cabinet over the fridge
  • SW Pure White for the upper
  • Via Lactea leathered granite (I love the attitude and movement you get from the texture)
  • 2x2 porcelain tiles for the backsplash that look like Carrara marble. The tile is an homage to the vintage tile I found in the bathroom (the place was built in 1910)
  • Appliances will be black stainless

Do I go dark with the floors, or is that too much? Will light floors look odd?

The kitchen is directly next to the family room, where new wide plank light stained floors are currently being installed. I do not want wood in the kitchen.

I welcome any and all advice!
