IMO the garage is the worst thing ever. All the windows are too small too. We need to know what spaces are behind the windows and also pics of the other sides of the house. It looks like you have lots of space so I would remove the garage and have it moved back so it is not in your face . Is there living space above the garage ? I need a lot more info . Also some idea of budget.

Moving front door, adding a porch and fixing dormers, I’d be contacting a few contractors for viable solutions and creative ideas that fit your style and budget. It‘s a pretty big overhaul and if it were me, I‘d also think about the size/location of windows.

I hear the above point of possibly moving the garage.
It might be more cost effective and practical to just bring the house out to meet up with the garage. This way it’s “even”
And then use the new extension as an entryway or mudroom.

Another idea for the garage is to move the door to the left side and make the front of the garage look more like house. Add windows....

Would like to start off with it's an allright looking house now. Reminds me of red barns that are often seen in the county especially the northeast. The garage door isn't bad but think a carriage type door would be better suited to the house. Would advise if you replace the garage door, no matter the style, to include lites (windows) in it (the upper portion would be best location). Would suggest removing the flowerbox as it can cause water infiltration problems. Would remove the circular grate as well. New and larger sconces in a dark finish as oppose to the existing chrome finish. Might suggest you paint the cornerboards a contrasting color. You can paint one on the rear of the house to see if you like that idea. If the front door can be moved to the right to be centered on the window above that would at least get the entry out of the darkish corner. The existing window could be moved to the left to replace the door but would center it on the window above as well. The dormer windows look a bit small. If you could replace with a full bank of windows across the dormer front that could look good. Also, the one lonely window on the far right might need to be removed and larger windows added to that wing of the house. Of course, that all depends on what the interior layout is like. Once again, it's a fairly handsome house! Good luck!

Check at city hall to see if any plans for remodelling were filed over the years. It helps to understand the current appearance. Trade locations of the door and window to the right. Line up the dormer windows above. Double the window width in the corner.

The garage door is prominent because it is a highly contrasting white instead of blending in with the barn red. Paint the garage door the same color as your new siding.

Remove the spindly tree next to the house before it grows roots into the foundation.

If you want the house to look "rich", you'll need a carefully coordinated paint scheme and new professional landscaping. Pressure wash the driveway and walkways. Use good quality light fixtures. Use a substantial, wide door mat at the front door. Park cars in the garage. If you leave cars in the driveway, it makes the house look like it's too small for the owners because they use the garage for storage. Avoid yard "decor".

Need to see floor plan. Where were you planning on moving the front door?

Have no idea where you are located or what type of setting the house is in, but you must be careful not to price yourself right out of the neighborhood with all your renovations.

Thinking of moving the door more center of the house. It’s on a lake, we can’t price ourselves out of this neighborhood. I’m trying to figure out how to get the floor plan. I’ll share when able.
