If you bruise a leaf from the first one does it smell nice? Reminds me of Lindera benzoin, aka spicebush.

The last two look like dogwoods, Cornus species.

Agree, 2nd & 3rd pic (and prb'ly 1st) is spicebush, & next 2 dogwoods, both of which grow well in shade & underneath trees, tho obviously more slowly than in more sun. But 8 ft for spicebush is a bit of a push, tho there are a few old ones near me that max out about there.
