Sourwood trees near structures?

I’m in the earliest stages of planning a house.

I want to preserve a nice mature sourwood tree (Oxydendrum arboreum). It might hang over the front corner/porch a bit, leaning as even healthy sourwoods do. The canopy is high enough that there would be plenty of daylight and air circulation.

I’m aware of possible root damage and not compacting the soil, etc, during construction. I’m just wondering if they’re generally considered a ”safe” tree for breakage, windfall, etc.
