Pale Green Basil

It's hard to tell from the photo but is the basil on the right too pale for pesto. The plant on the left is nice and green for comparison. I don't want to go through the process of making pesto only to toss it.

Does it not taste as good?

No clue, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I've been growing basil and making pesto for 20 years. I've had pale green plants in the past but usually early in plant growth and I bring them back. I think I let them go to much so there's not enough soil.

I suppose I could try a small batch to see how it tastes.

Yellowing in basil is usually a sign of overwatering or waterlogged potting mix. But I'm only guessing as we have no info on how you're growing it.

I think it's overgrown it's pot. I try not to over water.

Any idea how it will taste?

What would happen if I transferred it to a bigger pot?

Um, just taste it? Take a leaf off each, rinse, and taste ... It doesn't have to be made into pesto to be tasted. It probably tastes just fine.

Taste a leaf from each plant and compare?
