My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

    The Bane of My Existence – that is what is in the narrow cabinet space next to the stack of drawers. I idiotically thought that a pull-out spice rack would be a "great resale feature" and people would love it. Well, it is too narrow to put anything but very tiny spice jars in, if you pull it out while you're cooking or washing and forget it you bump into it, and it made me choose a 12" stack of drawers, which were too narrow for a standard silverware divider. I just finished custom retrofitting in a silverware divider.

    I'm choosing to see it as both a learning experience (listen to your mom) and an opportunity to flesh out my carpentry skills.

The light is the Kichler Lighting 7704OZ Hatteras Bay™ 4-Light Directional Rail Track Lighting Kit, and you can find it at a variety of online lighting retailers or lighting specialty shops. I had to call around my area to find a place that had it in stock, in the dark bronze finish I wanted. There is also a 3-light option. Thanks for the feedback!

      Would like more info on cabinets - love that they are full overlay with 5 piece drawers. Who is manufacturer? Are they custom?

      They are RTA cabinets and my boyfriend and I assembled them all together. The company is Lily Ann Cabinetry and they had great customer service, but the cabinets were quite a pain to put together (however, I don't know that it could be any easier, given that they are cabinets and we are not carpenters). These are the white shaker and are solid wood except for the center panel, and painted, because thermofoil seems risky to me (what if it scratches?!). Overall I am very pleased, and all of the drawers and doors came with soft-close hardware, which is really nice.
