Osmocote Blue-max?

Dirr presents some fascinating data in his new book on using Osmocote blue-max as an aluminum ammendment to promote blue color in Hydrangeas as opposed to aluminum sulfate.
Anyone used it? It doesn't seem to be very common and have only found a few places with it online.

Blue-Max IS aluminum sulfate. It has just been prilled/coated to become slow release.

Yeah that was why Dirr was recommending it to avoid overdose or multiple applications. However, at the cost I may just stick with AS.
