Countertop installation issues

We had taj mahal quartzite installed in our kitchen and have had several issues during install.

We’ve had a sink cutout in the wrong place, faucet holes the wrong size, and a flipped template that resulted in a very obvious inclusion in a really prominant place. Now, this was the third attempt to install our counters and the installers cracked the stone. Its not all the way through, but its very obvious and all the way from the bar side to the side where you stand at the sink. They glued it and polished it but its obvious enough to see from another room. They are sending someone to look at it, but I‘m curious what is acceptable?

I agree. What is an acceptable solution? Can they repair this? This is the 3rd replacement.

Also, the brackets underneath the bar have a small gap between the bracket and the slab. Its not much, but it seems like it shouldn’t be there? Is this ok?

This is the latest slab lot. i didnt pick it. They bought this lot to fix our job and it took 2 slabs to replace everything. our original slab was huge so it all fit on one.

I hate they have lost so much money on this job, but its just not ok as is.

    The other issues:

In their defense, they have fixed each mistake. However, I am very tired of this process.

They are incompetent. You need a full refund and a new company to fabricate your countertop. I’m so sorry this happened! In my previous home, the guys broke the stone and had to replace it, but the second time was a charm. Here, you have TWO bad installations. You need to end your relationship with these people and get your money.

Refund and let them take that mess away.

It sounds like they are making the effort but lack the ability. I hate to even say it but I think it's time to be refunded and start anew. Do you like the countertops they selected? I knew you said they selected them to replace the first mess up (or was it the 2nd, can't recall). A crack like that would not be okay to me, personally. You pay so much and expect the quality to be there. &, that overhang support looks questionable. I'd definitely look into that more. Would be back if the piece broke completely due to lack of support. Would even be worse if it landed on someone when it did; I hate to even go there because it would not be good.

Another vote for not acceptable. My previous kitchen, also Taj mahal, had a corner that must have cracked during fabrication. It took me months to notice that "crack/fissure" so it was a good repair and only about an 8" arc from a corner. How do they explain the bad sink cutout?

Get your money back, let them take their counters and start over. Do they really want you to review their company and post photos everywhere on the web? A refund and parting on good terms would be best for their business.

Were you there to oversee the templating? The wrong sink cutout and faucet holes just boggle the mind.

Agree with the others, get a refund and go with a different fabricator. Too many mistakes and mishaps.

They want to come out and repair the crack, but I can’t imagine it would be unnoticeable. More importantly, would it be durable? I have 3 kids that will eat at the bar.

They brought the stone with the sink cutouts already done and drilled the faucet holes here. The faucets were here for reference. i have no idea how this has gone so wrong.

    Stop the quartzite insanity.

We’re I them, I’d try to talk you into a larger sink that could be centered. The faucet hole looks right; you’re not showing it with the escutcheon. The brackets weren’t installed on plane.

I dont know….that looks like it would be one huge escutcheon.
