Every time after a heavy and humid rain in summer we've had a very strong odor that seems to come from around our master bedroom window. It almost smells like cat urine which is what we first assumed but then we ruled that out quickly. The smell would eventually fade after a few weeks then reappear again after another heavy rain until fall when the temps cooled. We're now smelling it again after the past week of heavy rain.
From just a raw nose test, the smell is strongest along the bottom sill. We just noticed this white stuff around the edge.
We first noticed it last summer in 2020 after the first heavy rain. We bought the house in fall of 2019 for reference.
Coincidentally, last summer before this we just had somebody come out to seal the outside brick near the window that was causing a leak into our bay window below. We had also just painted the room a week prior to this.
