Touching up trim and doors

Hey all. We're moving and need to touch up baseboards, window trim, and doors. When I tried touching up the window trim myself the pure white semi gloss I was recommended didn't seem to fully match (I think the original paint is just too old). Is it pointless to "touch up"? Should I just get a painter to repaint all these things? Thanks for your input!

No but we want to sell fast so we think we'll have a better chance of we touch up

Is there any place you can steal a board without damaging anything. Take it to the paint store for matching. Do you know if the paint is oil-based or latex? It's smart to do whatever you can to make the best first impression on buyers. Another tip is to strip out all but the basic furniture, then take away even more!

My non-professional opinion: If your goal is a quick sale, and if the rest of the house is in great shape, hire a painter to do all the trim. On the other hand, if the house is nice enough but not pristine, continue with the almost-matching touch up and drop the price.

Oh and if you're using a brush and the brush strokes aren't blending in, try dabbing the paint on with a bit of crunched up paper towel.
