Long, low end tables would look much better. Be sure you measure for height since your bed looks fairly low. The combination of navy and black is very heavy looking. I'd try to find a light wood, or a light colored painted finish. It wouldn't be perfect with teh black, but since they aren't right next to each other I think it can work.

I like the ones in the westchester traditional do you know where they are from? i may have to get a new dresser if i can’t find something to blend in with it. the height should be around 28” to 30” maximum.

Take a look at Pottery Barn. They have a good selection. I agree you can mix a wood tone as well as a black nightstand. If you find one you like but the knobs are not similar, you can change them out.

The designer never answered the questions about where the night stands are from, but I'm sure you can find something similar. If you're open to a new lighter colored dresser, or even willing to paint it a different color, I think that would give you more of the "modern casual coastal" look that you're going for. Then you could use the second white end table you posted with a navy or light stained wood dresser. You can likely sell your current dresser to help with the expense of a new one. Or try painting it.

I never thought about navy dresser i will have to think about that. I would be willing to paint it. Also will be changing picture above bed to something like this one. Any thoughts on bedding?

If you're amenable, what about a textured wall paper behind the bed--something that's evocative of a coastal feel--or muted colors that would help blend wood/black etc.?

Good idea but DH is not going to be agreeable to that !
